Youth Advocacy Program
Advocate provides advocacy and support services for children who are victims of and/or affected by domestic violence or sexual assault and those who have been identified as at risk.
Youth services Include:
- Education and skill building
- Support groups
- Individual advocacy
- Resources and referrals
- Prevention education
We provide a supportive, confidential, and safe environment.
We are available for presentations and training’s with businesses, schools, day care centers and community organizations. Contact our office. If you would like to have a staff member attend your event or give a presentation, please call our office.
Referrals for the Youth Advocacy Program come from teachers, counselors, community service agencies and parents. For a referral contact our office and ask for youth advocate.
S.H.O.R.E. (Sharing Healthy Options for Respect and Esteem)
S.H.O.R.E. is an educational group designed to increase or maintain self-esteem in youth, as well as enhance the coping skills of children who have experienced or witnessed abuse. The Personal Development Center, Inc. designed this program to affirm the uniqueness and worth of each child.
Youth Learn:
- Skills to gain more control over their response to unsafe situations
- Safety planning and protective behaviors
- Identifying healthy relationships and to cope with bullying
- Importance of making positive choices
S.H.O.R.E is offered three times during the year to elementary, middle school, and high school students.
S.H.I.P. (Safe Harbors Instill Power)
S.H.I.P. is a support group for youth who share experiences as they relate to abuse. Meets at the same time as the adult women's W.I.S.E. group and is designed to assist parents and children in talking about their issues affecting their family.
